Made in Westmeath to host craft display this November

Westmeath County Council is delighted to host a winter display from Westmeath craft makers as part of the Craft Council of Ireland’s 40-year celebration as the National Year of Craft 2011.

‘Made in Westmeath’ is an exciting initiative which profiles innovative and quality craft in Westmeath. The group of 30 diverse craft workers present new collections of jewellery, textiles, handbags, wood products, soaps, fashion, felt works, millinery, bog oak, and much more. The aim of the group is to promote crafts made in Westmeath and to build a brand that is recognised locally and nationally.

All products are synonymous with quality and are hand-made, reflecting the versatility and talent of Westmeath-based crafters. Group members have taken part in many festivals and tourist events this year as part of their effort to bring hand-crafted Irish work to the fore. The work of the group can be purchased all year round at Belvedere House & Gardens and at CORE Craft Outlet in Ballinahown.

The group’s website www.madeinwestmeath.ie is a great showcase of work and you can read individual profiles of the group as well as catch up on craft news.

Members of the group will be taking part in the upcoming Food & Design Winter Fair which will take place in Belvedere House from November 18-20.

The group are being supported by the Craft Council of Ireland, Westmeath County Enterprise Board, and Westmeath Community Development, and also gratefully acknowledge the support of Belvedere House & Gardens and Westmeath County Council.
