Birthday celebrations at Athlone Towncentre

On November 1, Athlone Towncentre will celebrate its first anniversary with an action-packed weekend of entertainment, giveaways, discounts, and promotions.

Over the course of the weekend, visitors can expect superb street theatre entertainment by local group Tonta; face painting for kids with Groveland’s Childcare; together with performances by stilt walkers, jugglers, clowns, and lots more.

On the main stage in the centre over the weekend, there will also be entertainment provided by samba bands and DJs together with performances from local artists including John Rabbitte.

According to marketing manager, Shirley Delahunt, “We have some fantastic entertainment and activities planned for both Saturday and Sunday and hope that all the local community will come out and enjoy the celebrations with us. Many of the stores in Athlone Towncentre will also be offering discounts and special offers over the weekend so there will be lots of value to be had in the centre this weekend.”

“We have decided to mark this milestone with a weekend of giveaways and entertainment as our way of saying thank you to the local community who have supported the centre so well over the past year.” she added.

It has been an exciting year for Athlone Towncentre which has attracted nearly five million shoppers and enjoyed visits from many well known celebrities such as Roy Keane, Rosanna Davison, Glenda Gilson, Gordon D’Arcy, Niall Quinn, Eddie O’Sullivan, Karen Koster, and Laura Bermingham to name but a few. There was also great excitement over the summer months as local girl Clare McNally was the lucky winner of an Opel Tigra Convertible from 45,000 entries.
