Westmeath architects and schools participate in IAF programme

Three architectural practices are working with Transition Year students in Westmeath schools on A Space for Learning, a national design competition created by the Irish Architecture Foundation to challenge current thinking on school design, where architects collaborate with the end-users of educational spaces - the students.

Students from the Westmeath schools are working with architects to create and submit their design ideas to an IAF panel for selection in March 2010. Winning teams will receive funding to develop their design for a national exhibition tour, which will begin in autumn 2010.

Participating architects in Westmeath are Elaine Hanna, Raymond Higgins of Kenny Lyons & Associates, and John Whyte of Whyte Architectural & Energy Consultancy, working with Loreto College Mullingar, Wilson’s Hospital School, Multyfarnham and Athlone Community College.
