Jasango Theatre’s debut is a bombshell

Jasango Theatre marks its debut with the Irish premiere of Bombshells, a rip-roaring, explosive and hilarious evening spent with several generations of women on the edge.

Bombshells is a wild and passionate comedy by Joanna Murray-Smith, featuring Angela Ryan and Jasmin Finn and directed by George B. Miller. From the fame-seeking teenager to the frenetic young mother to the simmering widow and the exultant, terrified bride, these women will surprise and delight you in this series of vivid monologues.

Described as “jaw-droppingly good” by the Sunday Times and “a rare combination of comedy, truth and rapture” by The Times, you can see Bombshells in Athlone’s Passionfruit Theatre on Friday January 22.

Written for performer Caroline O’Connor, Bombshells premiered at the Melbourne Theatre Company, Australia in 2001. In 2004, the production was one of the hits of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, transferring to the Arts Theatre in London.

In keeping with Jasango’s commitment to collaboration, this production showcases smart, haunting music by the Go Away Birds (www.myspace.com/thegoawaybirds ), and the evocative artwork of painter Sueanne O’Halloran (www.sueanneohalloran.com ).

Jasango Theatre was founded by Galway theatre artists Angela Ryan and Jasmin Finn last spring as a collaborative, multi-disciplinary company, bringing together musicians, visual artists and theatre practitioners to create fresh, multi-dimensional theatrical events.

“Everyone knows one of the women you’ll meet in Bombshells,” says actor/ producer Angela Ryan, “maybe a friend, a sister, best friend, an aunt - or maybe themselves!”

Don’t miss this opportunity to catch Bombshells at Passionfruit Theatre, Athlone on Friday January 22 at 8.30pm. Tickets, priced €15 or €12 with a concession can be booked by phoning (086 ) 333 8457.
