Midlands Simon and MMKDA: Building a better community

A firm of local architects and engineers have decided to show their support for those experiencing homelessness by freely making available to the public their vast range of expertise and advice in an initiative called ‘Building a Better Community’.

On Saturday June 13 in the Radisson SAS Hotel in Athlone, in exchange for a donation of €40 to Midlands Simon Community, the public will have the fantastic opportunity to avail of a one-hour consultation with either architects or engineers from MMKDA Ltd, the Athlone-based company.

There is a huge variety of top quality advice on offer, so if you have a project or home improvement in mind this is the ideal opportunity to get some expert help and guidance. Whether you are interested in making your home more energy efficient, need help with the planning process, would like some help with costing a project, or if you have any other issues or areas where you need some general advice, this is an opportunity not to miss.

MMKDA are a multidisciplinary company of chartered engineers and chartered architects. The team at MMKDA have built up a vast wealth of experience in the construction industry over the past 20 years. The company provides architectural, civil, and structural engineering services on projects ranging from residential, commercial and industrial developments, to masterplanning and water and sewerage schemes.

Midlands Simon Community supports people who are either at risk of, or who are experiencing homelessness and has worked with over 500 people to date, including over 170 children. As well as supporting people to progress out of homelessness Midlands Simon also works closely with all their service users to help them overcome the many other challenges that can be faced by those experiencing homelessness such as loneliness, isolation, poverty and health and welfare issues.
