Local Councillor John Dolan has welcomed the agreement of the OPW to fund the maintenance and cleaning of the Boor River over the next three years.
“I have had numerous motions at Municipal District meetings regarding the lack of maintenance of this river which services large parts of Ballinahown and Castledaly. Following an on site meeting with myself, Minister Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran and OPW officials this week, the OPW have agreed to fund Westmeath County Council to do the necessary works over the next three years. I wish to thank the Minister for his help in getting this vital funding to allow works to begin,” Cllr. Dolan commented.
